What I know
5 hours for push mower
70 minutes for powerful riding mower
90% is done by p.r.m and rest by p.m
5 hours=300 minutes

70 minutes for 100%
But we have to find 90%, so,
90%=90/100=0.9
70 X 0.9 = 63
So 90% of 70 is 63. It took Manny 63 minutes to mow 90% of the lawn with his powerful riding mower.

300 minutes for 100%
But we have to find 10%, so,
10%=10/100=0.1
300 X 0.1 = 30
So 10% of 300 is 30. It took Manny 300 minutes to mow 10% of the lawn with his push mower.

Now we have to add both of the numbers to get how much time it took Manny Kerr to mow the entire lawn.

Powerful Riding Mower - 63
Push Mower -30
63+30=93

Therefore, Manny Kerr took 93 minutes/ 1 hour 33 minutes to mow the entire lawn.

Math

              UNIT RATE
3000m       100m
30secs        1sec

100m  x60  6000m --> 6km
1 sec   x60  60secs --> 1min

6km  x60  360km --> 360km
1min x60  60mins  --> 1hour
 Therefore the train goes 360km/1 hour

Journal Prompt

It's been months...but, it felt like years. Boom! The 'thud' noise awakened us. I got up and saw people play around...wait...did that mean we reached there...! Finally! We reached! I tried to be careful, as I left the congested area. I tried as hard as I can not to hit my head on the ceiling, well, I was used to it so it didn't really matter. Back to what I was saying, we put on our helmets and the door opened. It looked like an old movie...or a newspaper. What I mean is that it was plain black and white. The sky was pitch black, but the bright little stars brightened the whole scene. Down below was a bumpy, rough and uneven ground. It looked pretty cool and it was in a greyish tone. It also had big craters on it and it looked more different than I thought it would look like. I jumped but instead of getting back on my feet right away I slowly got down (like a feather). I was on the moon! It was exciting and pretty cool. We've all been waiting for this moment for 8 months. Walking didn't feel like walking, it felt more like skipping but in slow motion. Everything we did happened in slow motion, just like it did in movies. It felt like walking on a gigantic trampoline and having one-fifth of your weight. Imagine that. It was hard to walk in space since there is less gravity and on top of that you also have an uncomfortable suit which makes it harder for you to walk. But still, it's an experience you would never want to miss!

Mountains

We just finished our project on making mountains. We were supposed to make a whole panoramic view of mountains. We used a variety of coloured pastels to make them. I shaded in my mountain and made a gradient effect for the sky. I decided to make a sunset scene. I had the most fun making the sky/sunset. I found it hard to make the shape of the mountains and the rough bumps which are on it. Mostly, it was hard to shade in the bumps and give it a 3-D effect. But, it was still a fun activity and I've enjoyed it a lot! Our class did a great job on making the mountains!

My art assignment (eyes)

Our art assignment was an entertaining experience. I learned how to make realistic eyes. It was so fun making them! Even though mines didn't turn out so well, I had fun making them. The part I found the most difficult was when I had to make the shape of the eye. I tried many times until I felt like the shape was pretty okay. Another part which was really hard was the part where I made the eyelashes, sometimes they were too close together while sometimes I added too much, it was really hard to make the length of the lashes good ( some small, some large). The part which was the most fun was when I made the pupil. It took a lot of time to make the pupil but it was enjoyable. Overall, I found this assignment very challenging and mostly sensational!

My favorite TED talk is the one where Simon Sinek talks about "How Great Leaders Inspire Action". This video is a good video because it tells me that some people do things just for money and fame (like he mentioned the man in one of the examples), but, they aren't doing it for a reason, they don't have a reason why they are doing it, so, they would most probably just fail and won't achieve what they wanted and won't get and fame and money. But, on the other side, if you work with all your effort just to change the world and help those around you, you need to have a reason why you are doing it (not for fame/money but for helping others) just like the Wright Brothers did! Due to the Wright Brothers' hard work and dedication they got great results and the other man got nothing.
